Why European formulas?
What is Biodynamic farming?
Biodynamic farming is a holistic and natural approach to growing crops and raising animals that emphasizes healthy soil and animals. It is not simply an ecological approach, but one that also emphasizes ethics and healthy use of the land over short term profits. It was developed by Rudolf Steiner in the 1920's, not as a means of maximizing production, but as a means of working with nature. Biodynamic farming focuses on allowing animals to live in dignity. For example, cow dehorning is forbidden (more info here:) Through diversity of crop and a mindset of sustainability, the land is respected and maintained in stewardship.
What is Demeter farming?
Demeter farming is the largest Biodynamic farming certification organization in the world. Demeter is the goddess of the grain, agriculture, harvest, growth, and nourishment, who presided over grains and the fertility of the earth. More info can be found: here
What are the standards for European baby formula?
European standards do not allow corn syrup, rice syrup or carrageenan as ingredients in infant formulas. It has banned the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers on the crops that the dairy animals graze on. European formula companies have to abide by more rigorous standards than US companies. Our formulas, quite simply, are better for your baby, your wallet and the environment.
How do you store your baby formula?
We always strive to go above and beyond to provide the absolute highest quality product to parents buying our formula. Here are just a few ways we’ve ensured that the best formula gets to you and your babies:
1. All of Leche's formula products are supplied from Northern Europe, where temperatures are relatively cool all year round.
2. Our products are shipped to you via air freight, which has shorter transport times and better temperature control than sea freight.
How do I prepare the formula?
You can view the preparation guide, feeding chart, and nutritional information for each formula on our website; simply scroll down to the 'Nutrition Information' and 'Preparation' tabs on the product page.
Freshness and Expiration Dates
The products we sell are fresh out of production and therefore usually have a use-by date long in the future.
Expiration dates are listed in the European Format of Day/Month/Year. For example, 04/01/26 would indicate January 4, 2026.
Opened boxes stay good for 3-4 weeks (please check instructions on the label).
Make sure to follow the storage instructions on the label carefully to make sure the product stays good until its use-by date.
Can I use formula after the Expiration date?
Please never use formula after its expiration date. It is a product that is precisely manufactured to have exactly the nutrient composition your baby needs.
After a certain time, the nutrients start to deteriorate and your baby won't be receiving the nutrient composition anymore that it needs for healthy development and growth.
What about cost?
European baby formula such as HiPP, Holle , Loulouka and Lebenswert, which we sell, is an extremely affordable and much, much healthier alternative to anything found in the United States. Our formulas are directly competitive with brands such as Enfamil and Similac and yet without any of the junk! We offer an affordable, better alternative to US formula. Your baby will receive healthier, organic nourishment found in our brands of Holle, HiPP, Loulouka and Lebenswert, free of the added junk and chemicals found in US brands.
Do you offer free samples?
Unfortunately, we do not offer free samples. We'd love to offer our customers free samples, but for two things. First, we are unable to source sample size packets. Even if we were, however, able to offer sample size packets, it often takes an infant a little while to adjust to new formula. Sending sample packets is just not a very good way to try new formulas. Our advice is to pick a formula and give it a trial run for a few weeks. We simply cannot send enough samples to cover that long of a period, even if we had any. We're pretty confident your little one will love our formula!
